Danilo Sciarrone

Il Prof. Dott. Danilo Sciarrone è Professore Ordinario di Chimica dell’Ambiente e dei Beni Culturali nel Settore Scientifico Disciplinare CHIM/12 – Chimica dell’Ambiente e dei Beni Culturali, presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Chimiche, Biologiche, farmaceutiche ed Ambientali dell’Università degli Studi di Messina. Ha conseguito la laurea in Chimica e Tecnologia Farmaceutiche presso la facoltà di Farmacia della stessa Università nell’anno accademico 2003/2004 con la votazione di 110 su 110 e lode accademica. Nel marzo 2008 ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in “Chimica e sicurezza degli alimenti”. Nell’agosto dello stesso anno è stato vincitore di un assegno di Ricerca di 2 anni dal titolo “Sviluppo di sistemi cromatografici innovativi multidimensionali micro per l’analisi di miscele complesse”. Nel Dicembre 2008 ha vinto una borsa di studio, in occasione del Congresso Internazionale di Cromatografia Liquida (HPLC2008) tenutosi a Kyoto, Giappone, per la presentazione Oral Communication del lavoro dal titolo “Analysis of Diesel By Means of Off-line Tridimensional Comprehensive Chromatography LC-GCxGC Coupled with a MS Detector”. In occasione dei congressi Nazionali di Chimica degli Alimenti 2008 e 2010, ha ricevuto una borsa di studio per presentare le proprie ricerche. Nel 2010 ha ricevuto una Student Travel Grant erogata dalla “Californian Society of Separation Science” (CASSS) per il 34th International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC 2010) a Riva del Garda. Nel 2012 ha ricevuto il “Leslie Ettre Award” per la ricerca originale più interessante in gascromatografia capillare con enfasi su ambientale e su sicurezza alimentare. Nel 2013 e nel 2016 è stato premiato con il The Analytical Scientist Innovation Awards (TASIAs) per le sue ricerche, inserite tra le 15 più innovative dell’anno. Nel 2018 è stato inserito nella Power List “Top 40 under 40” per celebrare i migliori giovani scienziati nelle scienze analitica. Ha inoltre preso parte a corsi di spettrometria di massa, organizzati dalla Società Chimica Italiana presso la Certosa di Siena (2008), spettrometria di massa a rapporto isotopico (IRMS) (2007), la tecnica SPME (2003, 2005, 2012) e ad un corso di spettroscopia FTIR (2012). E’ stato coordinatore nazionale del progetto FIRB 2008 Futuro in Ricerca dal titolo “Tecniche analitiche avanzate per l’analisi di contaminanti negli alimenti” ammesso al finanziamento ove le risorse necessarie lo consentano. Coordinatore nazionale del Progetto FIRB 2010 Futuro in Ricerca, codice RBFR10GSJK, con D.M. n.556 del 21.09.2011. Coordinatore locale del Progetto PRIN 2015 “Multifunctional nanotools for advanced cancer diagnostics” Prot. 2015TWP83Z. E’ stato Responsabile Scientifico dell’Unità di Ricerca di Messina nell’ambito del Progetto PRIN2015 “Multifunctional nanotools for advanced cancer diagnostics”. Ha preso inoltre parte ai seguenti progetti: PRIN 2005, PRA2005, PRIN 2006, PRA2006/2007, PRA2008/2009. E’ attualmente Principal Investigator nel Progetto PRIN 2022 dal titolo “Advanced analytical characterization and synergic evaluation of volatile terpenes of selected β-caryophyllene containing spices for diabetes treatment” Prot. 2022359CZA. Nel 2018 è stato Chairman del 2nd IRMS Day a Messina organizzato con la Divisione di Spettrometria di Massa della SCI. E’ stato inoltre membro del comitato organizzativo in diversi congressi internazionali (ISEO 2004 e 2023, ISCC 2012, GCxGC 2012, Extech 2012, SepSci 2013 e 2018). Svolge attività di referaggio per le maggiori riviste scientifiche internazionali del settore tra le quali quelle edite da Wiley-VCH, Taylor & Francis e Springer. I suoi interessi comprendono l’applicazione di tecniche cromatografiche quali ad esempio LC, LCxLC, GC, GCxGC, LCxGC, GC-MS, MDGC, MDGC-C-IRMS, MDGC-prep, SPME-GC, GC chirale, e lo sviluppo di tecniche cromatografiche innovative e veloci. E’ autore di 7 capitoli di libro a diffusione internazionale, 176 comunicazioni a congresso (24 nazionali e 152 internazionali) e di 69 articoli su riviste internazionali con referees i cui argomenti spaziano dall’indagine di allergeni in varie matrici, l’analisi di oli essenziali, di carburanti e di matrici grasse alimentari mediante l’utilizzo di tecniche analitiche avanzate sviluppate nel medesimo laboratorio di analisi dell’Università di Messina. Nel 2017 ha ricevuto l’abilitazione ASN al ruolo di Professore di prima fascia nel SC03/A1. Dal 2011 è titolare del corso di Chimica Analitica per il CdM di Farmacia presso l’Università di Messina.
