Dr. Katia Arena received the master’s degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies at the University of Messina on May 10, 2016. During her PhD, she carried out a research period at the CIAL (Instituto de Investigaciòn en Ciencias de la Alimentaciòn) -Department “Bioactividad y Analisis de Alimentos”, Madrid, Spain. In 2021 she got her PhD in “Chemical Sciences”, discussing a thesis entitled “Foodomics: LC×LC Approach in Modern Food Science” She is currently Research Fellow of Food Chemistry at the University of Messina.
Her research activity is focused on the implementation of Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Liquid Chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry for the determination of the composition of complex food and natural matrices.
She is co-author of 19 scientific articles in journals and 30 oral/poster presentations at national and international conferences; she also won the “Best Poster Award” with a poster entitled: “Production and comprehensive characterization by LC×LC-PDA/MS of aqueous phases from pyrolysis of different biomasses”.
Dr. Katia Arena is guest editor of the scientific journal Molecules (MDPI).
